Leland Blue “The Shark” is Santa CruzThe Leland Lake Superior Iron Company smelted iron in blast furnaces in the Great Lakes region from 1870 until it went bankrupt in 1885. At that time, they dumped the remaining industrial slag into Lake Michigan. These days treasure hunters comb the beaches for pebbles of the coveted Leland Blue glass.
